This was one of the best purchases I’ve made for my veteran. It was very easy to add his rank and message. I love that you can preview the item prior to purchase as well.

U.S. Army Decals
Everyone has probably heard about the courage and numerous accomplishments of the United States Army, from history classes and from many cultural references. If you have ever watched movies like Saving Private Ryan or Platoon or played video games like Battlefield or Call of Duty franchises, you can see why the military inspired so much historical fiction, documentaries and fantasy films! Their frequent presence in popular culture stems from the fact they have influenced the world’s history and politics to a large extent, and there is a lot of material to use in cinema, gaming, literature, and more.
The History of the U.S. Army
The roots of the United States Army reach as far as 1775 because it was formed to fight for independence of our country in the American Revolutionary War. Since its very creation, it has been a mainly land-based force, with the main aims being fighting land battles and military occupation. What is more, the Corps of Engineers also has a vital responsibility to control rivers inside the USA.
The first name of the U.S. Army was the Continental Army, when it was created to fulfill the need for professional troops to face invading British Army’s attack. Up to the 1940s, this force was not really impressive in size in peacetime but it changed due to World War II. In 1947, there was a significant split - the Air Force separated from the Army Air Forces and became a fully independent force.
Some of the most important conflicts the U.S. Army took part in are:
- the Indian Wars of the 1790s
- the War of 1812 (1812–15)
- American Civil War (1861–65)
- Spanish–American War (1898)
- World War I (1917–18)
- World War II (1941–45)
- Korean War (1950–53)
- Vietnam War (1965–71)
When the Cold War ended in 1991, the U.S. Army started to concentrate mostly on Western Asia and participated in the 1991 Gulf War and wars in Afghanistan and Iraq.
